In preparation for this historic event, our government under the leadership of President Adama Barrow has earmarked a range of infrastructural developments aimed at ensuring a memorable experience for the delegate as well as improving the lives and livelihood of people in the country. The OIC projects – as they are widely known, constitute the single largest portfolio of infrastructural development projects in the historic of our country. The government’s philosophy from the one has been that hosting the Summit would be meaningless if it is not linked to the progress and prosperity of all Gambians.
More than twenty new roads are being constructed including the expansion of one of the most critical highways – the Bertil Harding Highway, from two to six-lane highway.
Additionally, the government has built a new high-end presidential terminal lounge at the Banjul international Airport, a state-of-the-art international conference center, a five-star hotel (which is still being built), doubling the capacity of the national water and electricity grid, among other projects.
- The construction of a new 50km road network in the Greater Banjul Area – the urban metropolis of the country Explore Road Network;
- The widening of the 22km Bertil Harding Highway - one of the two major motorways of the country, into a dual carriage of three lanes each. The highway connects the airport to the Capital city. Learn More ;

- The provision of a befitting accommodation facility;
- The construction of a state-of-the-art international conference facility Conference Facility Information; and
- Enhancing and rehabilitating the supply of water and electricity in the Greater Banjul Area.
